Slant Recommendation Sunday: Down a Rabbit Hole

It’s the end of July! In the northern hemisphere, we’re thinking about the incoming autumn with dread or fascination. I personally am an equal parts mix of dread and fascination. I love the autumn, but everything starts becoming very busy as we kick into holiday gear earlier and earlier. Friends, I just want to drink hot apple cider and start knitting a sweater for the first time in my life. While I can do that at any time of year, it’s so much nicer when you can feel the crisp of a chill at least on the horizon.

In the spirit of Autumn and my longing for the spooky season, our slant recommendation today is going to be a little on the mysterious, a little on the silly, and a lot on the folklore.

Let’s Go Down a Rabbit Hole…

Digital Folklore

I reviewed this one a while back, and continue to adore this podcast. There’s so much packed in to every episode, and if you like the audio fiction side of life, it will appeal to you. Go on adventures with Mason, Perry, and Digby - their pet racoon who gains the ability to talk. While you enjoy the backstory these characters dive into, you’ll also learn about folklore in the modern age, and how everything and nothing is how it seems.

Modes of Thought in Anterran Literature

This is an audio fiction podcast that I am dreadfully behind on, but I reviewed it as well. I am waiting for the right time to re-listen to this thrilling story of ancient civilizations, espionage, and possibly, magic? The entire world this team has built has a feel for an alternate reality game if you head over to their website to take a gander. This podcast sinks its claws in and unless you find yourself at the end of the season, it will not let go.

If you liked one of these podcasts, I feel like you'll enjoy the flavor of the other. Do they match perfectly? Nope. That's the point, though. Let's explore new podcasts we normally wouldn't listen to, together. Maybe we'll find something new.
